On Sunday, May 11, 2014, the 1st Hellenic Shaolin Culture Festival was held in Nafplion Sports Center, organized by the Greek Shaolin Federation, the Greek Shaolin Temple Cultural Center and Shaolin Athletic Club of Southern Greece. The members and the board of Greek Shaolin Federation, knowing that there is an imperative need of the public for the Shaolin Culture, agreed to carry out the first cultural festival ιn Greece.
More than 15 Martial Arts schools from all over Greece, and more than 200 students were gathered to Nafplion City, to participate in the Festival. The public had the opportunity to enjoy a spectacular event and magnificent performances of Shaolin Kungfu, such as Traditional boxing, Imitation boxing, Kids Kungfu, Soft boxing and so on, winning the audience’s warm applause.
The main objective of this festival was a cultural exchange activity, helping to communicate and exchange the shaolin culture among young students, children and low grade kids. Thus, the kids participated were more than the half of the total attendees.
The kids enjoyed the event along with their parents, having the opportunity to mingle and exchange with students from other Greece and their parents and friends spoke with the spectators, showing them how they enjoy their kids activity and how Shaolin Culture has changed their lives. How their kids become more responsible and capable to confront with the growing difficulties, in school, family, and society.
At the grand opening of the festival, the General Director of Greek Shaolin Temple Cultural Center - EPOS Master Yan Zhuo expressed His graditute to Master Papavasileioy Dimitris Director of Southern Greece Shaolin School and the Mayor of Nafplio City Mr. Demetrios Kostouros, for their efforts during the 1st Shaolin Cultural Festival. He introduced the origin of Shaolin Tradition and a brief history of Shaolin Culture emphasizing that people’s ultimate aim of gaining peace, wisdom, liberation and freedom can be achieved by cultivating themselves and encouraged the audience to visit Shaolin Temple and experience cultivation life.
Master Shi Yan Zhuo, assisted to this festival by His students, Master Shi Yan Kong, General Director of Athens Shaolin Cultural Center, Master Shi Heng Ji, Director of Paiania Shaolin School, Master Shi Heng Ya Director of Red Phoenix Shaolin School, Master Shi Heng Feng, Director of Snake & Crane Shaolin School, Master Shi Heng Ling, of Artemida's Shaolin School, Master Shi Miao Yin of Amaliada Shaolin School, Master Shi Miao Qing of Wind Shaolin School, Master Miao Lian of Paiania Shaolin School, Master Miao Ju of Pyrgos Shaolin School, Master Shi Heng Qiang Director of White Lotus School and Master Miao Shu of Snake & Crane Shaolin School.
