As the world celebrates World Meditation Day, EPOKES, the leading Greek Shaolin organization, marked the occasion by completing its groundbreaking initiative titled “Meditation: A Fundamental Human Right.” This transformative campaign aimed to promote meditation as a key tool for mental well-being, personal growth, and social harmony.
The vision behind the initiative
Recognizing the growing challenges of modern life—rising stress levels, mental health struggles, and social disconnection—the organization believes that meditation should be accessible to everyone, regardless of background or circumstance. “Meditation is the bridge between chaos and clarity, between conflict and compassion. Let’s work together to ensure that everyone, everywhere, can cross this bridge,” said Master Stavridis Iordanis.
One participant, Irene K., shared: “Meditation has changed my life. It’s not just about sitting quietly. It’s about finding peace and strength within yourself. EPOKES has given us a gift that keeps on giving.”
A global call to action
As World Meditation Day reminds us of the importance of mindfulness, EPOKES’s initiative is a testament to what can be achieved when individuals and organizations unite for a common purpose. By championing meditation as a fundamental human right, EPOKES has not only enriched lives but has also paved the way for a more harmonious world.
World Meditation Day
At the initiative of the Abbot of Shaolin Temple, Venerable Shi Yong Xin [Chin.: Shìyǒngxìn 释永信] and monk Shi Miao Hei [Chin.: Shìmiàohǎi 释妙海], the UN has declared December 21 as World Meditation Day, recognizing the power of meditation and recalling everyone's right to enjoy the highest possible level of physical and mental health.
