January 30, 2014: The new Athens Shaolin Cultural Center, located in Ilioupoli, Greece is now open to the public and it is going to be the Shaolin Tradition hallmark for the city and its inhabitants. After the ribbon cutting ceremony, the Center was officially entrusted to Master Shi Yan Kong, founder and general director of the Athens Shaolin Cultural Center.
On behalf of Hellenic Shaolin Federation, the Primary Shaolin Institution in Greece, the Grand Master Shi Yan Zhuo inspected the center, followed by a large number of guests who came for the inauguration and to look at the new Athens Shaolin Cultural Center facilities. The project started 2 years ago, supported by Hellenic Shaolin Cultural Center. In his inaugural speech, Master Yanzhuo was very pleased and expressed that he expects that "Athens Shaolin Center can promote the 1,500 years of Shaolin Tradition and Culture in Athens and it can enhance the Greek and Chinese cultural exchange."
Soon after, the students form Hellenic Shaolin Cultural Center performed Shaolin Kungfu for the guests. Master Yankong introduced Shaolin culture with experience lessons for Shaolin Kungfu, Qigong and Meditation and gave an instruction. Everyone was attracted by the profound Shaolin culture and amazed at the splendid Shaolin Kungfu. They hoped to come to Shaolin Temple to visit and worship one day.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by many representatives from civic sector of society and representatives of the Shaolin Official Schools in Greece.
On January 31st, the Center officially opened its doors to the public.
