World Tai Chi and Qigong Day [WTCQD], also spelled World Tai Ji and Qi Gong Day, is a global annual event held the last Saturday of April each year to promote the related disciplines of Tai Ji Quan and Qigong in nearly every country since 1999. This year the Masters of Greek Shaolin Cultural Organization decided to participate in this beautiful and kind springtime global festival of body and mind health and demonstrates to the community and all the participants the wonders of Shaolin Rou Quan, the “Soft Fist” [chin.: róuquán 柔拳] of Shaolin and Shaolin Qi Gong the most ancient neigong arts in the world. Their major benefit is that it empowers the body, cleanses the mind and the heart; while long-term practice, leads to improvement in overall health- maintained till old age, providing the sense of longevity.
So under the supervision of the General Director of the Greek Shaolin Cultural Organization [EPOS], Grand Master Shi Yan Zhuo, on Saturday April 25th, Shaolin Rouquan and Shaolin Qi Gong free workshops were held in 2 major Greek cities, Thessaloniki and Pyrgos with great success and more than 200 participants. In Thessaloniki two 2-hours workshops were completed by master Shi Miao Yuan [释妙原] and in Pyrgos an interdisciplinary workshop completed by masters Shi Miao Yin [释妙音] and Shi Miao Ju [释妙钜].
World Tai Ji & Qigong Day is recognized by the UN World Health Organization and it is our obligation to participate with all our efforts in this World Healing Day global celebrations and do what we can in the general effort to send out positive energy and wrap our planet in a wave of healing intention, said grand Master Yanzhuo.
After completing the workshops, participants had the opportunity to discuss about the Shaolin Culture and learn more about the Shaolin teachings, chan medicine and various other matters relating to the cultural and historical background of the Shaolin Rou Quan and Shaolin Qi Gong.
